How Dizolv Revolutionizes the Plastic Packaging Industry with an Authentic Recyclable Product

Hi, welcome to Dizolv! We’re a green packaging company that’s invented a new substrate that acts like plastic but decomposes like paper. In short, that means a guilt-free eco-friendly plastic that doesn’t create microplastic. It’s the change the plastic packaging industry has been waiting for and the key to sustainability.

A Plastic Alternative Backed by Science

We know, it sounds too good to be true and we don’t blame you for having your guard up. A lot of people or companies out there claim to be biodegradable but aren’t.

These companies promise they are eco-friendly and their packaging solutions promote recycling but aren’t. That’s not us. We don’t need to hide behind buzzwords.

We’re an environmentally friendly plastic alternative with science to back it up. We’re ready to launch our first product in early 2023 and here’s how we got there.

Plastic Pollution and Recycling Propelled the Idea Behind Dizolv

When Covid 19 shut the world down in April 2020, options for gathering with your friends and family were limited.

People were hesitant about personal contact let alone small gatherings. So three friends sat down to find a way for people to safely shake hands again.

We had the idea to create a hand sanitizer made from medical-grade ethanol which would serve as a better alternative to the ones at the time. You remember those stored in small to large plastic bottles.

They smelled bad and left your hands feeling sticky. We thought about how to market our solution and get it into the palms of as many people as possible.

What better way to do this than with a small plastic sachet? We dreamt of giving these ketchup pocket-sized sachets away by the million.

Until we thought about the plastic packaging. Are we creating something that can’t be recycled and will only add to the environmental crisis facing us?

The pollution we’d create from plastic use would be immense, and recycling is something that’s usually easier said than done. But with our eco-friendly product, there’s no way people couldn’t recycle it. This realization was a pivotal moment for the direction of our company.

The Quest for Sustainable Packaging Solutions

We were determined to find a sustainable plastic alternative for not only plastic sachets but all single-use plastic. When we couldn’t, we decided to make one. Turns out a green company is what we were meant to be all along.

In late 2021, we partnered with a green chemistry incubator based in Boston with excellent credibility in their field and hundreds of patents under their belt.

We enlisted them to come up with a substrate that performed like plastic but degraded like paper resulting in zero microplastics and challenged them to do it in 7 months. They beat expectations and in 4 short months, our biodegradable plastic was born.

We know what you’re thinking: if eco-friendly plastic alternatives are possible, why has nobody done it before? We asked the exact same question when we met people in the industry. The answer we got is that no one has bothered to.

The plastic industry is working on an “if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it” model. Their current methods are profitable, the demand isn’t going anywhere and the effect on the planet and its people isn’t their priority.

Who Cares About Green Technology?

We did. We refused to see why you couldn’t have it all. Plastic isn’t something to be demonized. The capabilities of plastics – or materials like it – are amazing.

What the world needs is a green plastic that meets business, community, and environmental needs equally.

Just one or two of those isn’t good enough. That’s what sets our substrate apart: it hits all three.

We took the sage advice of our mentors and decided the first application of our substrate would be a palletizing stretch film (like a cling wrap but on an industrial level).

The next 12 months were spent honing our formula to perform as an elite stretch film.

We’re currently in the late stages of validating this solution for commercial success and gearing up to launch as soon as early 2023.

Once implemented, it could significantly reduce the use of plastic products and helps curb plastic waste generation.

We Are Pro-Bioplastics

You can appreciate that we can’t go into extensive detail about how our substrate is made too early. But we can tell you how it works.

Our substrate is a base material that can be manipulated into tons of different product applications. That base material isn’t made from petroleum.

We’re more of a bioplastic which is why our product doesn’t leave any microplastic footprints. It gets eaten by microbes rather than poisoning our environment for hundreds of years.

It won’t melt in your hands or disappear the second it gets wet. It’s strong, durable, and disappears when no longer needed. That’s what green plastics should be so that’s what we’ve made.

The Journey Toward Sustainable Plastic Packaging Continues

This is our story so far, and we’re just getting started. The plastic packaging industry isn’t going to change overnight, and we’re not going to be able to do it alone.

But together, and with the help of technology, we all have the power to shift where we’re headed. And now you’re part of the journey too.

Until next time.
